What is HELPS?HELPS stands for helping early literacy with practice strategies. HELPS is a research based reading intervention designed to help students develop reading fluency (reading with speed,accuracy, and expression) which is found to be strongly correlated with comprehension as well as overall reading ability. Currently 40% of U.S. students are non-fluent readers, which is why we need your help to become well informed volunteers! This website will help you navigate through the ways in which you can effectively promote intrinsic motivation through the use of praise and rewards. Additionally, you can learn why motivation is important and what it can do for your students beyond the program.
